‘Can Serrat’ - Mimi Dennett Marking the Land in Spain

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received some pretty neat emails with amazing projects our followers have been involved in that we’re excited to share with you all. Melissa emailed us about her artist residency in Spain, where she helps keep up the blog and shares all the work of the artists working at Can Serrat International Art Center. Land Sew by Mimi Dennett, 2011

Mimi Dennett is known for her diverse practice encompassing large-scale sculptural knitted work, recycled mixed-media, and large scale land-art (Environmental Dada). These strands of practice are integrated via installation.

Currently, Mimi finds herself as an artist in residence at Can Serrat. We are really pleased and proud to have her company. She is lively, creative and a lot of fun.

While at Can Serrat she has been working on the second part of her series, Home Sweet Home- the snug containment of belonging, and she will be busy continuing to work on it when she returns after her travels in August in preparation for an exhibition that she will be part of in Australia. Here is a photograph of her work in progress:

Mimi has been asked to extend to the first part in the series of Home Sweet Home, and has also been busy working on cutting out letters from newspaper in preparation for transferring it onto metal.
